This inviting and verdant space was a hole in the ground less than two years ago

Our sister design company Studio UC dug deep to design a garden that needed to perform on many levels.

The client’s brief called for the feel of a lush jungle and natural watering hole to sit on the streetside of the waterfront property.

The space had to perform in providing privacy and a sense of intimacy whilst at the same time being overlooked by the street and neighboring buildings.

The team at Studio UC developed a striking yet simple scheme, with a curvaceous pool seamlessly sitting within the deeply cavernous space.

Surrounding the pool, garden beds allowed layered foliage to further soften down the vertical retaining walls and bring a sense of calm to the space.

Using darker pool tiles gives a sense of depth and reflection, to further enhance the greenery.

Craning in advanced Kentia palms specifically selected at varying heights, ensures immediate privacy and softening of the new structure from both the street and neighbouring buildings.

This also allowed us to place boulders deeper into the garden, surrounded by ferns and native violets.

The custom pool weaves through the garden, providing safety and compliance whilst allowing plants to soften and naturalise it.
