The coastal banksia is a firm favourite of ours and a great tree for bringing a touch of the wild into our urban habitats. The grey-green foliage has a silver underside and the large creamy-yellow flowers are rich in nectar, attracting birds. This is a small tree that can be pruned to manage its size if required. Once it’s established it is super tough and requires little care.
These trees bring the beautiful nature of the bush into our urban gardens.
Use them as a feature or screening tree – don’t be scared to prune to shape, or plant multriples as a looser hedge.
