I took this pic of my niece Amy 10 years ago in my front garden. We loved gardening together and planting food. In 20 years’ time I’d like to think I can still garden with my niece – I’ll be 70, and she'll be 32. ⁠ ⁠ But if our planet is 4 degrees warmer, I’m not sure if those plants will survive. And what about the quality of our own lives when the weather is even more extreme? I’d like to continue to share images of beautiful healthy plants, lovely gardens and people connecting with nature – but our habitat is in peril, our bush is burning, our dams are drying up.⁠ ⁠ The science is clear and irrefutable – global warming is very real and accelerating.⁠ ⁠ I’m so tired of inaction by our government. Yes, I know as a country we emit far less carbon than other countries BUT Australia can lead by example as a nation, and inspire other polluting countries to act.⁠ ⁠ I’m partly responsible for carbon emissions, so I’m starting to think about what I can do to lessen my footprint – as an individual and as a business owner. More broadly, as a nation, we need to take responsibility. We owe this to our younger generation.⁠ ⁠ So let change begin here and now, with each of us. We need to talk about climate change with our friends, families and the community around us, and with our workmates, employers, clients and suppliers. We can’t ignore this.⁠ ⁠ 👉Amy and I together with members of the Garden Life team will be joining the climate strike this Friday 20 September at The Domain.⁠ ⁠ 👉Garden Life will also be closed from 11.30 am - 2.30 pm on Friday because this is not 'business as usual'.⁠ ⁠ 👉I encourage everyone to come and join in this show of strength and displeasure at inaction @schoolstrikeforclimate⁠ ⁠ Are you joining the strike too?⁠ ⁠ #climatestrike #ourgardenlife #climatechange #notbusinessasusual #schoolstrike4climate #SS4C
