Classic Contemporary on the North Shore

The old and the new come together

  • Soft and floral
  • Seasonal aspects
  • Showy traditional
  • Palm Springs out the back

The front and rear gardens of this beautiful property on Sydney’s north shore couldn’t be more contrasting.  At the front of the pastel pink stucco house is the most floral and feminine garden we have ever planted, and at the rear surrounding the pool is a striking Palm Springs inspired planting scheme full of architectural species, slick planters and 60’s furniture.

Our client was seeking a really colourful and abundantly planted formal front garden.  Our response was to develop a highly layered planting scheme with a combination of lush subtropical foliage mixed with deciduous cold climate trees, clipped shrubs and tough perennials that bloom all through the year.  Big showy Philodendron leaves contrast with soft feathery maple foliage and masses of begonias and anemone provide blooms for many months of the year.

At the back it’s all about form and structure, with a striking cacti and succulent garden created to surround the pool and entertaining space.

As this space matures the striking and contrasting specimens will add drama and impact here, the clean lines of the built form matched perfectly by their strength and simplicity.
